The Tanjong Scholarship Awards

The Tanjong Scholarship Awards (TSA) are open
to financially needy and academically deserving Malaysian students to pursue
full-time degree programmes in any discipline at public universities in
Malaysia.

Funded by Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tanjong, the
TSA are open to Malaysian citizens who have obtained 4 principals with a minimum
of 3As in their STPM examination, or minimum CGPA of 3.5 in their Matriculation
programme. Applicants who are active in sports and/or co-curricular activities
would have an added advantage.

The value of each award is RM7,000 per academic year for the minimum period
required to complete the course of study. Successful candidates must have gained
admission to a public university to pursue their degree programmes. There is no
bond attached to the scholarship. However, as part of the Group’s efforts to
develop its human capital, scholars will be given preference in respect of
employment opportunities within the Group upon their graduation.

Application for the TSA 2008 is now open. Details of the scholarship awards are
available from the advertisement published in major newspapers in Malaysia from
10-13 April 2008. Closing date for submission of application form is 5 May 2008
(for STPM candidates) and 5 June 2008 (for Matriculation Programme candidates).
Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.

ASEAN Foundation Scholarships for Nationals of ASEAN Member Countries

The International Development Studies programme is the first of its kind at Chulalongkorn University and quite unique in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. This programme is one of the first in Southeast Asia to offer multidisciplinary training in international development; integrating academic, technical, managerial, and professional training, with a particular focus on policy.

The MAIDS programme, currently offering a one-year Master of Arts degree, is designed for postgraduate students, NGO workers, international organisation employees, and junior to mid-level government officials with experience in development work. The programme is taught in English to students from a range of backgrounds and nationalities.

Students also benefit from an annual series of public lectures, which are organized through special training sessions and events, such as the Greater Mekong Sub-region on Human Security - with a special focus on Human Trafficking - sponsored by the Thai Commission for UNESCO.

The International Development Studies programme at Chulalongkorn University is new, promising, and seeks to become a central forum for interaction on development and globalization in Southeast Asia.
