8TV Scholarship Fund Network partners with SEGi for the third year to offer RM1, 000, 000 worth of scholarships

8TV and SEGi carved another milestone with the launch of the 8TV Scholarship Fund.
When it was first introduced in early 2006 in collaboration with SEGi, the annual 8TV Scholarship Fund, with a scholarship fund of RM 300,000, supported nine deserving students to pursue diploma or degree programs. In 2007, the fund had increased to RM 800,000 and was given as scholarships for 21 students.

The 8TV Scholarship Fund is 8TV’s way of giving back to the community through nurturing deserving young Malaysians through academia. Through this fund, students receive scholarships to cover tuition fees for undergraduate degree, diploma and foundation level courses covering various disciplines.

The 2008 8TV Scholarship Fund, now valued at a record RM1,000,000, aims to benefit deserving scholars, comprising of youths and young adults who also happen to be the core target audience of 8TV.

“The increment of the fund to RM1,000,000 this year hopes to help more students further their studies and achieve their ambitions,” said En. Ahmad Izham Omar, Chief Executive Officer of 8TV. “We really want to help young intellects carve a name for themselves in the future and potentially brighten and improve their lives.”

”With an encouraging increase in the amount of applicants last year, it is only reasonable that we provide a larger fund to cater for a higher number of applicants expected this year,” adds Izham.
“We are on the lookout for students with good SPM results and also involved in a wide range of character-building co-curricular activities.”
